Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup icing sugar
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2 teaspoons cold milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling by tossing chopped apples with lemon juice, then cook in melted butter for about 10–12 minutes until tender. Stir in sugar and cinnamon; let cool.
  2. For the crust, sift flour and icing sugar together, rub in cold butter until crumbly. Mix in egg and milk to form dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough and cut into shapes using an apple-shaped cutter. Fill each piece with cooled apple mixture and seal edges.
  4. Create a lattice top using leftover dough scraps for decoration. Freeze assembled pies for 15 minutes before baking.
  5. Brush tops with egg wash and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
