  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 14 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 14 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 ½ cups chicken broth (low sodium)
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large heavy-bottom pot, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey, ground beef, and diced onion; cook until the meat is browned and onions are translucent (about 8 minutes). Stir in minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  2. Mix in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and fennel seeds. Bring to a boil then reduce heat; simmer for about 20 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat; stir in mozzarella and Parmesan cheese until melted. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
