  • 6 medium sweet apples (such as Gala or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (or water)
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Core and slice the apples without peeling them, then place them in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the apple cider vinegar (or water), cinnamon, vanilla extract, cloves, nutmeg, and sea salt. Stir until well combined.
  3. Cover and cook on low heat for 5-6 hours until apples are soft and darkened.
  4. Blend the mixture using an immersion blender until smooth.
  5. Return to high heat and cook uncovered for an additional 1-2 hours to thicken.
  6. Cool before transferring to airtight containers; store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to a year.
